ABOUT
One Small Bite®
When people are told what they MUST eat, it trains them to ignore their own experiences, their tastes, and what their body is telling them about hunger or fullness.
Instead, taking “one small bite” means building a secure relationship with food, so that you can develop the ability to recognize physiological and emotional signals about food and energy levels in your body.
As you may have guessed, this approach isn’t just for kids. At Orozco Nutrition, we believe it’s important to allow curiosity to guide your eating decisions, to have compassion for yourself, to embrace commitment to yourself, and to build consistency even when life isn’t consistent.
These four components—curiosity, compassion, commitment, and consistency—form the bedrock of what we do. And they’ve changed the lives of the people we work with.
Curiosity
Curiosity leads to greater awareness, which enhances your ability to see issues, challenges, and patterns that can be changed.
Compassion
Developing self-compassion will help you see you’re NOT what you think or feel, and that “being thin” simply doesn’t matter.
Commitment
Committing to just one small change will help you if things get difficult or slow—and create a sense of accomplishment as you progress on your journey.
Consistency
Consistency will help you forego diets or techniques that go against your body. Instead, you’ll stay satisfied and whole as you persist.

David Orozco, MS, RDN, LD
Hey there - I'm David! Thank you for visiting my practice, Orozco Nutrition.
A little bit about me. I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a Master’s in Nutrition and Health Science from Georgia State University. I'm a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Exercise Physiologist, and a Quit Smart® smoking cessation counselor. My passion for nutrition and wellness is rooted growing up in a Colombian-American household where food and community is vital to wellbeing. And, my Spanish is pretty good too.
I want to help you find and maintain a natural balance in life by building a positive relationship with food and making peace with your body, so that we can create a nourished and higher quality of life.
I'm focussed on delivering a non-diet and weight inclusive approach whether through individual counseling, group programs, online courses, corporate wellness programs, my One Small Bite podcast, or my book so that you can chop diet culture, fuel your body, and nourish your soul.
I love cooking, dinner and traveling with family or friends, relaxing to a good moving, hiking, biking, and anything outdoors.
I look forward to working with you to find that peace and wellness you so deserve.
Karen Heiman, RDN
My name is Karen and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I got my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Florida, Go Gators!
I grew up in a Colombian household in South Florida, where I was always surrounded with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I always saw how the desire for community brought people together, no matter their culture. And, what was always at the center of community? Food!
There are so many things that help bring people together and food is one opportunity we have to celebrate the beauty of each person's traditions and history. I love learning about new cultures, new foods, and how it plays a role in someone’s life and worldview. As a Dietitian, I enjoy bridging together culture and health, so that each person can reach their dreams while still enjoying all the parts that contribute to who they are.
In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts and finding the next hidden mom-and-pop restaurant in my city.
